ABIGOR was formed in mid 1993 by P.K. and T.T.  Immediately after that, Rune (now known as Tharen)  joined ABIGOR as vocalist. The first demo, entitled ‘Ash  Nazgh...’ was released in autumn 93, and in December the  second demo, ‘lux devicta est’. In February 94 the  ‘Promo-Tape II/94’ was released, and in March the last  official demo, ‘Moonrise’. After the release of ‘Moonrise’,  Tharen had to leave ABIGOR because of his passivity and  lack of dedication. He was then replaced with Silenius.

With Silenius on vocals they recorded a limited demo tape, entitled In ‘Hate & Sin’ and also signed a  multi-record deal with the Austrian label NAPALM  RECORDS.

In June 94 the debut CD ‘Verwuestung / Invoke The Dark  Age’ was recorded, and ‘Verwuestung’ convinced with  outstanding Black-Metal, so it set ablaze ABIGOR’s mark  as one of the best bands within the Black-Metal genre.

In November 94 the concept MCD ‘Orkblut - The  Retaliation’ was recorded. ‘Orkblut’ is the story of a  warrior who remembers his pagan origins which inflame his  heart. It shows his life from the day he rises, his feelings  and his last battle, until his death and the severance of  flesh and spirit.

In Spring 1995 the overworked demo-song ‘Shadowlord’  was exclusively recorded for the NAPALM Compilation  ‘With Us Or Against Us Vol.1’. In May 95 ABIGOR entered  the studio again to record ‘Nachthymnen (From The  Twilight Kingdom)’, and it showed the first time ABIGOR’s  real capacity, and their ability of realizing majestic soundscapes of dark atmospheres as it’s best.

In November the same year they started the recordings  for the first chapter of ‘Opus IV’, entitled ‘Horns Lurk  Beyond The Stars’.

In May 96, ‘Blut Aus Aeonen’, the second chapter of  ‘Opus IV’ was recorded, and the final result, ‘Opus IV’,  was released in July 1996. With ‘Opus IV’ ABIGOR did  again a step forward, and they shocked with a very agressive, technical, and strange album, yet still typical  for ABIGOR’s everlasting way of development.

In January 97, the MCD ‘Apokalypse’ was recorded in two  days, the most raw and brutal ABIGOR release so far as  ABIGOR’s tribute to the values and spirit behind Black  Metal.

Over ten days from November 97 through January 98,  ‘Supreme Immortal Art’ was recorded, and with ‘Supreme  Immortal Art’ ABIGOR entered again the realms of very dim  and atmospheric Black-Metal.

As a result of the good response on ‘Supreme Immortal  Art’ a 7", entitled ‘Structures Of Immortality’ was  released, with a limitation to 500 copies, at the end of  September 98. And because of the numeroud inquiries  regarding ABIGOR demo material, the band has decided to  release a strictly limited demo-CD (to 1500 copies) on the  12th of October 98. The CD, entitled ‘origo regium  1993-1994’, was again released through NAPALM  RECORDS. ‘Origo regium’ offered a few selected songs  (Kingdom Of Darkness, Eye To Eye At Armageddon,  Diabolic Unity, Midwintertears, ...) from the first 4 demos.

But both releases, the 7" and the demo-CD are allready  sold out, and won’t be reprinted.

From January to March 99, the CD ‘Channeling The  Quintessence Of Satan’ was recorded. During the  recording session Silenius left ABIGOR because of personal  reasons. So Thurisaz joined ABIGOR as new vocaliast and  the ablum has finally been finnished, and released through  NAPALM RECORDS at the 17th of May 1999.

Peter’s side project, HEIDENREICH, was formed in spring 1997.During  the work and completion of material for the debut CD entitled «A Death Gate Cycle», Thurisaz joined HEIDENREICH as vocalist. Because of the fact that Peter is involved with ABIGOR and Thurisaz was in  AMESTIGON, the pre-judged notions of HEIDENREICH were skeptical.

So, they signed to Napalm Rec and released «A Death Gate Cycle»,CD in November ‘97 HEIDENREICH creating new atmospheres of Black Metal art; extreme variations, with more experimental avantgarde-ish sounds and vocals. The use of samples brought something new into the realms of atmospheres that HEIDENREICH’s music creates. «A Death Gate Cycle» was recorded at Tonstudio Hornix from the 20th to the 23rd of October 1997, and NAPALM released «A Death Gate Cycle» in November of 1997.

From July to December 1998 HEIDENREICH recorded «Trance Of An Unholy Union», but during the recording process several line-up changes took place: Lucia M. Faroutan (known from GRABESMOND) joined HEIDENREICH as keybaorder, while Thurisaz deceided to leave the band after the recordings for this second album.

Here we present an interview with Peter:

PsicoTerror: It seems that  the lyrics of Abigor deal with poetry &  Mystic/fantastic thematic instead of  the satanic one . Would you consider  Abigor as a satanic band? Why?

Abigor: If you consider a band as satanic, as we see ABIGOR, it doesn’t mean that you’ve to write only primitive lyrics that hail Satan by all it means. Of course we use the typical influences concerning our lyrics but through the years our lyrics became much more personal and we simply changed our point of view so it finally all turned out in a more and more individual and stranger way of realization but still realized through occult, dark and violent, as well space-like contents.

Psicoterror: Tell us something about the realization of your latest album»Channeling  the quintessence of Satan», in the musical/conceptual aspects.

Abigor: The album was recorded during 9 days at Tonstudio Hoernix. The album was produced and mixed by ourselves and the recording process wasn’t different compared to our previous albums. Concerning it’s musical aspects, we used 3 guitarlines throughout the album which finally creates a very powerfull and sonorous soundscape.  Also the production is much better than on the previously released because it’s till very transparent, yet still typical ABIGOR as well.

Psicoterror: The rather Small Austrian scene is pretty known by their talented bands.  For you, What are the differences between the austrian scene & the worldwide scene? What are your favorite Austrian bands & why do you appreciate them?

Abigor: I really don’t know why we are that different, nor do I really care about it, maybe because there’re still only a few bands as you already said, who cares? Anyway, none of the other Austrian bands is amongst my faves.

Psicoterror:  I suppose that Abigor is motivated by a force, which makes the band an Antichristian form of Art.  In other words, what were the main reasons that motivated the beggining of Abigor? What do you want to express  with your art?

Abigor: In 93 as we started with ABIGOR we searched a suitable form of art, that unites extreme music with extreme metal attitudes therefore was Black-Metal the one and only choice, even nowadays it’s all just fucked up and the definition Black-Metal doesn’t mean more than a trendy musical style that sells and that sucks in my opinion! Anyhow, we want to express our very individual views and ideas with ABIGOR.

PsicoTerror: Have you faced any kind of censorship in Austria or elsewhere because of the ideas promoted by Abigor?

Abigor: We’ve had press-ban in Austria and Switzerland of our debut album ‘Verwuestung’ in 1993, but that’s it.

Psicoterror:  It seems to be that Napalm Rec. will not sell merchandise through  mailorder anymore. What do you think about this? Do you think that it could be  negative for the distribution of your band, considering the fact that many  people preffer to buy via mailorder?

Abigor: NAPALM sells merchandising of ABIGOR since we signed there, and they sell it through mailorder as well, also they accept credit cards and they’ve also an online store, which people can order from Europe or the US office via internet, so there’s no negative or problems at all. I guess one can buy about 6-7 different shirts, longsleeves and hooded sweaters at the moment of ABIGOR, don’t know exactly...

Psicoterror:  Please talk to us about your project HEINDENREICH. What kind of  musical/conceptual differences do you find between Heindenreich & Abigor? Please Explain.

Abigor: In HEIDENREICH I work with more untypical elements, like programmed drums,Samples, spacetouched effects and Synths, also I try to compose more strange material that simply wouldn’t fit to ABIGOR. We signed in 97 at NAPALM, the debut album ‘A Death Gate Cycle’ was released in late 97 and the second album ‘Trance Of An Unholy Union’ in early 99. It’s a kind of avantgardistic and experimental (Black-) Metal.

Psicoterror:  Many people consider that black metal music must be just guitars without the use of keyboards/Synths & programmed Drums. They say that the keyboards  turn the sound of the band to a «plastic» , «colder» and «weaker» nature. Because of this, would you consider that Heindenreich is a black metal project? Why? What do you think about these statements?

Abigor: People can think what they want, but I (we) create and compose music which I like and feel the need for. I really give a shit on what other people think or how they define Black-Metal, it’s important what it means for us!

Psicoterror:  Lately, there are many black metal bands who copy the sound of others & saturate the whole scene. What do you try to do to avoid this with Abigor & Heindenreich? What is wrong with the modern black metal scene?

Abigor: ABIGOR exist for 7 years now, and we never cared too much about other bands, their sound, image or whatever, and I already explained what we try to achive with the band(s).In my opinion the main problem on todays Black-Metal scene is that 90% of the new bands have no identity, as you said, they just try to copy others and that’s sucks, but too much people are idiotic enough to by their releases either, but I don’t care.

Psicoterror: Are you relationed somehow with any satanic/occult organization?

Abigor: I know several people who’re involved with occult organisations, personally I am not, because I will prefent my ‘spiritual freedom’ as magican.

Psicoterror: Could you define for us your Personal definition of Satan as a concept, and satanism as a religion?

Abigor: I can, but I won’t do it. It’s personal and I am simply tired of explaining my beliefs in that common way, try to understand it.(ED: I do, but that is a very common answer).

Psicoterror:  What can you tell us about the Christian presence in the Europe of Today?

Abigor: Christianity exist but no one really cares about it anymore, it’s just there, and sometimes the church try to get more followers but the truth is that people are more and more addicted to ‘mortal’ values = money, and not in heaven, so in my opinion it’s decay has already begun.

Psicoterror:  Future Plans…

Abigor: We recorded a SLAYER cover version in late May and the US label DWELLRECORDS will release it soon through a SLAYER tribute album. And currently we work on new material, but we’ll do a longer break, but expect a new album in late 2000, it’ll be the ultimate experience!

Psicoterror: Last words for our readers...

Abigor: Thanx for your support and interest in ABIGOR. Check out our new album’Channeling The Quintessence of Satan’. We bear the millenium’s pain!.
